Yeah! Selfie Time!

As part of the ‘selfie’ generation, we flood the social platforms with our self-love by the hundreds of millions. Every experience is an occasion to capture yourself, however, we are far from being the pioneers. People have been trying to capture their own image for centuries.

 

 

 

 

By now, most everyone has taken a selfie. With so many out there, the repetition of faces blends from one to another. More and more, artists are pushed to branch out into different techniques, to differentiate their self-vision from the masses and set themselves apart from the crowd.

 

 

 

 

In Russian photographer Alena Zandarova’s series, Puree with Taste of Triangles, she photographs herself, playing around with images from her imagination, such as merging her body with some perky surroundings. This series of selfies is just as bizarre as the title itself.

She explains: “I break the conventions which I was placed and try to create my own rules of communication with the universe. I am inspired by the idea of combining incompatible, create something out of nothing, amazing coincidence, which then develops into a unique story.”
